Since the very beginning of the release, several Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ owners are complaining of a display with red tint. Reddish/yellowing issue on a smartphone is nothing new, but it makes the display looks dull. Samsung has already addressed the issue and released a fix for it. Users in Korea and Europe are starting to receive the update via OTA (build version G950NKSU1AQDG/G955NKSU1AQDG), which weighs around 430 MB.
Once the installation is completed, users will get two new options in the display settings menu – Full screen color balance and Screen edge color balance. Both modes allow users to change the screen color tint as per their personal preferences.
The ‘full screen color balance’ option lets users to adjust the white balance and offers five different modes (warm to cool). The second option ‘Screen edge color balance’ is meant to adjust the colors at the edges of the screen to change the appearance of white tone.
Note that not all Galaxy S8/S8+ are suffering from the red tint problem. However, the question here is does it really need to adjust the screen color tone to fix the red tint issue on affected devices even after installing the hotfix update?
1. Unlock Galaxy S8/S8+ and go to phone Settings
2. Tap Display and then tap Screen mode
3. You will see 4 modes: Adaptive Display, AMOLED Cinema, AMOLED Photo and Basic.
4. Choose a desired mode.
5. To adjust the color tone manually, select Adaptive Display mode and choose Full Screen Color Balance and Edge Screen Color Balance to adjust.
Note: The Full-Screen Color Balance and Edge Screen Color Balance options will be getting after updating your Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ to build version G950NKSU1AQDG and G955NKSU1AQDG respectively. (Source – 1, 2)
