Samsung Galaxy S4 in India Received Android 5.0.1 Lollipop (How to Update)

Samsung has started rolling out Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update for the Galaxy S4 in India. As per the confirmation by the XDA forum member iamkiu, all Galaxy S4 (GT I 9500) users will receive the OTA (over the air) notification on their device shortly. The update can also be installed via Samsung Kies.

The Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update (build number: LRX22C.19500XXUHOAA) for Galaxy S4 has a massive 991MB in size, so it will take some times to complete the update. Also, it is observed that the update will remove few apps (Play, Books, Movies, etc.) from the device for the use of memory optimization. However, users can reinstall them once the installation has finished.

The new Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update brings new features, lots of customization options, new Material Design user interface, and performance improvements with ART runtime, system animation, extended battery life and many more to your device. You can experience a whole new Galaxy S4.

How to install Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OTA update on Galaxy S4

If you have received the update notification on your Galaxy S4 (GT-I9500), select – “Yes, I’m in” option -> then, after downloading the firmware, select -> “Install now.” The phone will restart automatically once the installation completed.

If you have not received the OTA notification on your device, you can check it manually by going to Settings -> About phone -> System update.

Also, you can check it through Samsung Kies. Connect your phone to PC, run Keis and see whether the update is available.

Please note that it will take some times, probably few weeks to reach the OTA notification on your device, so be patient.
