As you may know, Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are the best camera phones at the moment. One of the best features of Pixel 2 camera app is Portrait Mode, which can bring DSLR like photos by blurring the backgrounds. You can now get Pixel 2’s Portrait Mode on any Android phone via the ported Google camera app, thanks to the developer community.
XDA member Arnova8G2 has ported the Pixel 2 camera app with Portrait Mode feature for non-Google devices running Android Oreo. Also, the ported camera app works on older Nexus and Pixel devices as well. You can install this app on Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Pixel/XL, OnePlus 3/3T and Galaxy S8, Galaxy Note 8, etc.
For your information, the Portrait Mode can be say an advanced version of previous Lens Blur mode. In this mode, the camera focuses sharply on human face and blurs the background giving a DSLR like photos. In Portrait Mode, the camera will take two photos – one HDR+ photo and one with the Portrait effect applied.
The Portrait Mode camera app is based on Google Camera app 5.1.016 and works on Android Oreo and above. You can use both front and back camera to take Portrait Mode pictures, but it recognizes human face to work.
If your phone is running on Oreo, then you can try the ported camera app and see how the Portrait Mode works. Download Pixel 2 Portrait Mode apk [HERE] and install it on any phone. Always check the source link for updated version of the app. (Source – XDA)
